Enrichment Registration March 14-18

After a 2 ½ year hiatus, the CHES PTA is thrilled to be offering after-school enrichment classes once again. A huge thank you to Principal Sahasrabudhe for giving us the green light. Classes will begin the week of March 28th, and will run for 8 weeks, except for Jump Roping, which will start and end one week later. Registration begins on Monday, March 14th, and will stay open until Saturday, March 19th. Registration and payment will be conducted entirely online.

We are offering one class option for K-2 students and one for grades 3-5 every day Monday - Thursday. Classes cost $100 for an 8 week session, except for Outdoor Adventures, which is free for all students. All classes are free for students who are eligible for free or reduced price meals. Our instructors will follow all ICSD guidelines for COVID-19 safety. Please note that completing the registration form does not guarantee your child a spot.We will almost certainly have more applications than we have spaces; you should sign up only for classes your child wants to take and that fit into your schedule, as we cannot offer refunds.

Volunteer with the 5K

A beloved event the CHES 5K will be returning this year on May 7th. We need lots of volunteers to make this event possible. For people who want to participate in the run, there are many jobs to be done before race day. For those who might have less time leading up to the event, we need lots of helpers throughout the day of the event. To volunteer contact Mark Wells: mhawellsfamily@gmail.com.

Ithaca Murals Initiative coming to CHES

Our school has been chosen by the Ithaca Murals Initiative to have a mural painted on the side wall of our school (above where the rock garden lives). This group has been responsible for many of the beautiful murals that brighten our town. Our principal Lisa Sahasrabudhe and our art teacher Marlena Doerr have both been instrumental in bringing this program to CHES.

The fifth graders have been brainstorming themes and proposals are currently being accepted from artists. Once proposals are submitted (Jan 22 is the deadline) the entire school will be able to vote for the winning proposal. Eventually all students will have a chance to do a small section of the mural with the majority of the work being done by the artist.
